Get ready for your art style revamp!
You may choose to binge the lessons or complete them weekly, but be sure to do them in order.
I’ll email you weekly as a benchmark of how far along you “should” be in your class progress. Feel free to respond to any of these emails with questions, completed assignments or comments! I’m always on the other side of my emails.

Start out by looking to the end result. The thing about setting intentions for your art journey is that they’re like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Similar to how when you set a destination on the map, you end up exactly there. If you never set the destination, you may trek in circles for a lot longer. So let’s set your art goals in Lesson 1 first. Then you’ll decide which art style will get you there.
Get intimate with the five elements that make up every art style: color, line + shape, composition, subject matter, and texture. These are the visual parts of art that determine your aesthetic. It’s necessary to know what they refer to in general before diving in to your signature style overhaul.
Observe and analyze your current art style. There may be a few characteristics worth hanging onto, and a couple more you couldn’t get rid of even if you tried. Find out what you’ll be bringing with you from the past on this art journey. This is also a big “clearing the clouds away” assignment!
Make an inspiration board to set the mood for your new art style. Decide on specific characteristics from each element that you want to include in your aesthetic and see how they play together side by side. We also discuss copying vs being inspired.
How big is your skills gap? How do you overcome it? Learn all about the skills gap and how it contributes to you hating or loving your artwork. Style doesn’t require skill, but it’s useful to know how practicing the same aesthetic repeatedly gives you skill and affects how your style looks. This is where consistency plays a huge role.
You’re ready to reveal that north star: your art style rulesheet! Set your rules, and dive into the nuance of evolution within a style as opposed to constantly changing it AND how it works if you make series-based work.
The grand finale is you getting to see your new signature art style come to life. Learn how to tell if you have a well-defined art style once you start showing your new artwork off. The signs of art style health will alert you if you fall off track in the future, and you can clear those clouds away from your north star vision quickly.
