Virgo is the mutable earth sign of the zodiac, including all folks born from August 23 and September 22.

The virgin is an archetype that surrounds Virgo. This zodiac sign is linked to Astrea, the virgin goddess of justice and precision. She’s also associated with the fertility goddess of Ishtar, or the harvest maiden Persephone. The link to agriculture, growth and fertility is backed up by the fact that early September is a prime time for fresh veggies, fruits and wheat to be ripe. Late summer is full of hot days, fireflies, and greenery. Virgos are said to be very practical, methodical, and grounded in high expectations.
