FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What size are your prints?

All the prints in the shop are currently sold as 8”x11” which is a standard size for framing. If you would like to order a custom size, email carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com and let me know and we can work something out 🙂

2. What are your prints made of?

They’re printed on 110 weight cardstock paper. It’s thicker than regular paper and will hold up against UV rays and is acid free. Prints are matte unless specified otherwise.

3. How are prints shipped to me?

They’ll come in a white cardboard flat mailer and will be encased in a plastic sleeve to protect against any rainy days your mailperson might encounter. I also slip a business card into your waterproof sleeve in case you want to tell your friends about me (wink wink). I use the United States Postal Service to mail everything and I choose standard shipping times.

4. I got an email that says order completed, but my package isn’t here yet. What does that mean?

It means I’ve shipped your package — it’s complete on my end. You’ll receive your package in a few days. If you ordered a virtual product like an ebook, it should arrive in a separate email.

5. Is there a price drop when I buy in bulk, or buy a lot of things at once?

No, I don’t reduce my prices for bulk orders, unless there is a special sale going on. If you sign up to my email list here, you’ll get the news when I hold any sales or discounts.

6. I messaged you, but didn’t get a response. What gives?

If you message me on Facebook, Instagram, or some other social media platform, I might not see it (especially if we’re not friends or I don’t follow you — it gets put into that other folder that you have to search for). I also have multiple social media accounts and it’s very hard to keep track of all clients on all platforms. So please email all of your questions or comments to carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com. It’s the best way to reach me. I promise to respond there!

7. I didn’t get my order and it’s been two weeks already. What do I do?

Let me know! If your package never makes it to you, I’ll send you another one free of charge as long as the items are still in stock. If they’re sold out already, I can’t guarantee that another can be made (especially for things like mugs, totes, or special items). However, I’ll do the best I can to make it up to you. Email me at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com and we can work something out.

8. Can I get a refund?

Sure 🙂 If you never got your order or if the product is damaged, I can send you another one free of charge as long as the items are still in stock. If they’re sold out already, I can’t guarantee that another can be made (especially for items like mugs, totes, or special items). If you got your item but it isn’t what you thought it was supposed to be or aren’t satisfied for some other reason, let me know! Email carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com that you were unhappy and I can refund your order.

9. What do you use to make your illustrations?

I sketch and paint on watercolor paper using traditional watercolors. Then, I take a photo of that work and upload it onto my laptop, where I paint over the image in Photoshop. The final result is a digital file. I use this file to design products like prints, bookmarks, stickers, calendars and more.

10. How much do you charge for indoor murals?

Indoor murals vary based on what the custom design is as well as the size of the wall. First we will create a design together using the same process as any commission (see questions 15 + 16). The custom design will be based on the mural to be made, so proper measurements will need to be taken. The client is responsible for accurate measurements of the wall. A pricing estimate can be given after measurements and before the illustration is designed. After the design is finished, wallpaper panels will be created and shipped to you. The wallpaper mural can then be installed and enjoyed. Installation instructions come with your mural in the mail. If you want a custom wallpaper mural for a room in your home or studio, email carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com to discuss!

11. How much do you charge for outdoor mural work?

Outdoor murals follow the same process as indoor murals (see question 10) except heavy-duty weather-resistant materials are used. I can install the mural for an extra fee, depending on location and season. If you have any questions, email me at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com. I’d love to work with you! 🙂

12. How do I request a mural from you?

Email me at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com. We can talk about what you want and when. All commission discussions must be in writing (email correspondence is fine) to be officially agreed upon.

13. I want a mural done by you but in a different style than you normally paint in. Can you do it?

No. I can really only paint in my style: the cool tones and children’s book vibes are all I got. If you’d like a mural in a realistic style or otherwise, let me know and I can refer you to another artist who would fit you better!

14. Do you do commission portraits?

Yes, I’m currently accepting commission requests. Contact me to see what my availability is like at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com

15. How much do you charge for commission portraits?

A portrait for one person is $225. For two people it’s $250. For three, $275. Each additional person (or dog/cat) brings the price up by $25. Contact me and let me know what you’d like to frame you (plants, buildings, your home, nothing, a pattern, etc.) and that comes included in the price. If you wanted to get something else done, such as an animal or building, contact me at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com and we can figure something out.

16. What’s included when I buy a custom portrait from you?

We’ll discuss what you want and what I can do through email until we’ve got a good idea of what you need. You can reserve a slot in my calendar for a nonrefundable $125 deposit that will go toward your total. When your appointment comes, I’ll send you a picture of the linework in case you want to make any changes to it. No changes may be made after this point. After color and detail is completed, you’ll get a digital file and the remaining portion of your payment is due before I send you two 8”x11” prints of the piece in the mail. If you want a bigger size, just let me know and I can arrange that at an additional cost. I own the rights to the piece, but you’re free to post the photo anywhere you’d like.

17. What are your terms and conditions?

You can see my Privacy Policy as well as my Terms and Conditions here

18. I want to keep in touch and stay up to date on events, art shows, or artist happenings. Where do I get that?

You can sign up for my email list here. I send out discounts, let you know about all the events I’m in, and let you peek behind the scenes. We can get to know each other 🙂

19. I want to get advice on how to be a better artist and to further my art career. Where do I get that?

You can sign up for my artist email list at the bottom of the page here. I’ll send out tips, resources and exclusive info about becoming a successful art business. You can also check out the blog, but the email list provides even more info.

20. I have a question that’s not covered in these FAQs.

That’s okay! Email me at carolynwhittico@acupofcloudy.com and ask away.
